At BDI, form always follows real life. We engineer every piece around how people work, entertain, and unwind—because if a design doesn’t improve your day, it doesn’t make the cut. Our inside-out approach marries elegant lines with problem-solving engineering, and our move into the bedroom is no exception.

We refused to release “just another” bedroom suite. Instead, we reimagined the entire experience: where devices charge, how mattresses adjust, how you navigate the night, and how you reboot after a long day. The result is LINQ and KAVA—two distinct bedroom collections that prove that better living begins with better design.

Available in King and Queen bed sizes, LINQ and KAVA pair refined lines with adaptable design. Each bed anchors a full family of companion pieces that elevate both form and function:

Nightstands in 20", 22", and 28" widths, with integrated power solutions and innovative storage features.

Dressers and Chests, including a 6-drawer Dresser and a Tall 5-drawer Chest, with full-extension drawers and built-in safety mechanisms.

Benches that mirror the bed design, providing seating, storage, comfort, and style.

Headboard Cushions, slim yet supportive, are available in leather or fabric to enhance your comfort while sitting up in bed.

Each piece reflects years of development, coordination, and real-world testing—all focused on how people live in their bedroom spaces.

Engineering the Platform: Strength as a Foundation


We began with the bed platform —the collection’s most demanding component. For months, our design and engineering teams put dozens of prototypes through their paces, testing mattress support, slat geometry, and real-world preferences. 

Each load test measured airflow, flex, installation ease, weight, and noise, while a cost-benefit analysis of every material ensured the final design delivers maximum performance without compromise.

The result? A custom-engineered fabric-wrapped pine slat system that minimizes vibration and sound, while supporting heavy mattresses with virtually no flex. 

Each set of slats rolls up for simple transport and tool-free assembly, then secures with Velcro for stability. 

Whether you're using a traditional or adjustable mattress, the platform provides a solid, breathable foundation.

 

We also discovered that true comfort goes beyond simple support—it’s rooted in accessibility and thoughtful design. With four platform height settings and adjustable headboard legs, our bed offers a full 6 inches of vertical flexibility. 

This means you can maintain the ideal ergonomic mattress height of 24–25 inches, no matter the thickness of your mattress, ensuring ease of use, aesthetic harmony, and a consistently elevated sleep experience.

The BDI team performed various tests to ensure the bed platforms were sturdy, adaptable for various mattress sizes and versatile for everyday life.

Nightstands are usually an afterthought—but not at BDI. We mapped every reach, tap, and charge: where devices land, how you grab essentials while lying down, and the most convenient ways to power phones and lamps.

Our solution is a 12-inch sliding top that glides forward to bring drinks, books, and devices within easy reach while revealing a concealed power hub. Borrowed from our file-drawer engineering, the tongue-and-groove mechanism handles more than 50 lbs yet feels weightless in use.

That hidden hub delivers three AC outlets plus USB-A and USB-C ports, with built-in cord wraps to keep cables out of sight. And on the 28" LINQ Nightstand, a bonus center drawer adds grab-and-go storage—a nod to BDI’s roots in multifunctional workspace design.

Power Where You Need It—Thoughtfully Integrated

Technology should support your life, not clutter it. That principle drives every outlet, port, and cable path we weave into the bedroom.

Up-LINQ beds feature built-in AC power outlets and two USB ports (USB-A and USB-C), discreetly located on each side of the headboard.

KAVA beds, while more minimalist in appearance, feature USB-C charging ports—subtle, intuitive, and future-forward.

Power management is also integrated into the rear of all nightstands, easily accessed by sliding the top panel forward, making it ideal for lamps, phone chargers, and other essentials.

These features were developed through hands-on testing, ensuring that plugs fit easily while keeping the technology out of sight.

Illuminating Design

Dimmable accent lighting surrounds the BDI headboards, providing a warm, soft glow and creating the perfect mood.

Lighting That Responds to You

Lighting had to be ambient, effortless, and invisible. After dozens of prototypes, we decided on a centered brass touch bar that powers hidden LEDs beneath the headboard.

Touch-and-hold to dial the glow up or down—no harsh flashes, no awkward switches. The result: soft, customizable night light and a warm metallic accent that quietly elevates the room.

Smarter Storage. Safer by Design.

Meeting the new STURDY Act anti-tip standard was non-negotiable—and we kept every inch of storage.

On our six-drawer Dresser and five-drawer Chest, a concealed interlock (borrowed from our office-storage expertise) lets only one drawer open at a time, preventing tip-overs without stealing capacity.

Each drawer pulls a full 18" from a 20"-deep cabinet for easy access, while hidden steel braces in the legs add rock-solid stability with zero visual bulk.
