Home Entertainment and Home Office Collections Contend for Prestigious Award

CHANTILLY, VA – Aug. 25, 2017 – Home furnishings innovator BDI has once again been recognized by the Pinnacle Awards – one of the industry’s most coveted honors – with two nominations for this prestigious design award. The Elements Media + Storage Console by Al Glass and Jason Guidry, and the Duo Pedestal Desk by Matthew Weatherly have both been named as finalists for the 2017 honors, a designation by the American Society of Furniture Designers recognizing design quality and excellence.

The Elements Collection has been nominated in the category of ‘Home Entertainment’. Ideal as a media cabinet or as a striking storage credenza in its own right, Elements is set apart by its eye-catching patterns, created through a unique laser cutting process on the wood doors. Backed with perforated metal, the doors provide an open appearance and allow for sound dispersion, ventilation and remote control access, while keeping contents concealed. For consumers who love choices, Elements offers 24 possible configurations, allowing ample customization options for any space.

Nominated in the category of ‘Home Office’, the beauty of the Duo Pedestal Desk lies in is its versatility. Designed as a full-featured solution for smaller or shared office spaces, Duo perfectly pairs a satin-etched glass work surface with conveniently accessible file and storage drawers. With the same satin-etched surface, the file/storage cabinet can be easily assembled on the right or left side of the desk, accommodating all users, no matter their dominant hand. Duo is also beautifully finished on all sides, so it can be positioned against a wall, or can float in a room to create a shared workspace.

“BDI continues to be on the forefront of innovative home furnishings design, and we are honored to have two designs recognized by the ASFD as finalists for the Pinnacle Awards,”

Bill Becker, CEO and Design Director of BDI

This honor will mark the fourth consecutive year BDI’s designs have been selected as finalists, while five of BDI’s designs have been named the Pinnacle Award winner over the last three years.

“BDI continues to be on the forefront of innovative home furnishings design, and we are honored to have two designs recognized by the ASFD as finalists for the Pinnacle Awards,” said Bill Becker, CEO and Design Director of BDI. “Both the Elements and Duo collections are already enjoying great sales at the retail level, and have been well-received by consumers. We are thrilled to see that these collections are being recognized for their great design by the industry as well.”

This year marks the award's 22nd anniversary. Judging is done by an independent jury of industry professionals and is based on certain criteria of design excellence including Form and Function, Innovation, Retailer & Manufacturing Benefit, and Consumer Benefit. Pinnacle Winners will be announced during an Awards Banquet ceremony held during the Fall High Point Market.
