Honor marks the fourth consecutive year BDI has earned designation

CHANTILLY, VA — October 2017 — During the Fall High Point Market, BDI emerged as a winner once again, claiming two winning designs during the annual Pinnacle Awards ceremony. Awarded by the American Society of Furniture Designers, the Pinnacle Awards recognize excellence, innovation, originality, and education in the practice of furniture design, and are widely seen as the industry’s highest honor.

In the Home Office Category, BDI earned a Pinnacle for its Duo Pedestal Desk, designed by Matthew Weatherly. BDI was also the honoree in the Home Entertainment Category for the Elements Media + Storage Console, designed by Al Glass and Jason Guidry.

At BDI, we are committed to designing products that are not only aesthetically beautiful, but also make the lives of our customers a little easier and more enjoyable,” said Bill Becker, CEO and Design Director of BDI. “This year will mark the sixth and seventh Pinnacle Award, and we are thrilled to again be recognized for our focus on innovative design that meets the needs of today’s savvy consumer.”

This is the 23rd year the ASFD has hosted the Pinnacle Awards. A panel of 12 judges from within the industry evaluates products from finalists in 14 categories and also recognizes the top eco friendly and student designs, as well as the top major collection.

Below, judges shared their thoughts on BDI’s winning projects.

Duo Pedestal Desk by Matthew Weatherly for BDI (WINNER IN HOME OFFICE CATEGORY)

“We find this smart and modern design addresses today’s homeowner’s desire to blend great function with high design. The look is both hip and functional. The fact that this desk can go on either the left or the right side is brilliant. Integrated wire management helps keep this desk looking clean all the way around. We see great appeal for young professionals with urban home offices.”

Elements Media + Storage Consoles by Al Glass and Jason Guidry (WINNER IN HOME ENTERTAINMENT CATEGORY)

“Refreshing and inspired by nature. This is the kind of new thinking and great design that gets us excited. We like the use of new manufacturing processes like laser cutting to make the functionally attractive cabinet doors. The hidden wheels and levelers are a great feature. The integration with technology is seamless with the hidden sound bar, removable back panels, and TV mount compatibility. Both the charcoal stained ash and natural walnut finishes are spot on.”
