SUMMARY

The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for coordinating and supervising all daily activities of the warehouse operations, including labor scheduling, freight carrier management, warehouse maintenance and shipping and receiving. This position also involves hiring, managing and monitoring personnel and promoting and maintaining a safe work environment. This position reports directly to the VP of Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

This individual should be able to manage people and processes for optimal performance.  Problem solver. Hands on. Attention to detail is critical as is the ability to set and maintain standards.  Driven and goal oriented. Must maintain a safe, clean and orderly warehouse and must be computer proficient.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.


WAREHOUSE AND OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT 

  • Continually monitor warehouse layout and operational activities and recommend changes to improve warehouse space and production efficiencies
  • Direct the warehouse Operations including production center
  • Conduct, along with Quality Control Manager morning warehouse staff meeting
  • Monitor all safety standards and ensure compliance in all areas
  • Conduct safety training and fire drills
  • Ensure OSHA compliance
  • Facilities management and equipment maintenance
  • Provide coverage for the Quality Control Manager in his absence


SHIPPING AND RECEIVING MANAGEMENT 

  • Ensures proper staffing, organization, training and development of personnel in department – including specific record-keeping and system functions
  • Directly supervise shipping coordinator along with up to 10 warehouse staff
  • Coordinates shipping activities with Customer Service and Shipping Coordinator
  • Monitor shipments to ensure that customer specific requirements are met
  • Oversees outgoing shipments for accuracy, completeness, proper skidding and wrapping. 
  • Oversee mapping of outgoing truck load shipments
  • Create and maintain reports tracking various activities
  • Seek, negotiate and manage carriers to ensure that we are utilizing the best service in terms of dependability and economy
  • Monitor carrier charges for accuracy
  • Monitor carrier performance and report as needed
  • Manage incoming containers
  • Work with Inventory Analyst on scheduling cycle counts
  • Assign staff to conduct daily cycle inventory
  • Support year end physical inventory
  • Oversee processing of Marketing and Sales Materials
  • Oversee packaging of Marketing orders
  • Manage Marketing mailing process in conjunction with marketing dept.
  • Recommend, implement, and support continuous improvement within the department and the company to improve employee performance, quality control, productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction
  • Maintain proper documentation for ALL procedures used within the department and review periodically for potential process improvement
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of direct reports and address any performance issues
  • Assign daily tasks to warehouse staff
  • Create metrics for measuring areas of responsibility and develop goals for improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


INVENTORY MANAGEMENT 

  • Work with Inventory Analyst on scheduling cycle counts
  • Assign staff to conduct daily cycle inventory
  • Support year end physical inventory


MARKETING INVENTORY PROCESSING 

  • Oversee processing of Marketing and Sales Materials
  • Oversee packaging of Marketing orders
  • Manage Marketing mailing process in conjunction with marketing dept.


OTHER 

  • Recommend, implement, and support continuous improvement within the department and the company to improve employee performance, quality control, productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction
  • Maintain proper documentation for ALL procedures used within the department and review periodically for potential process improvement
  • Conduct regular performance reviews of direct reports and address any performance issues
  • Assign daily tasks to warehouse staff
  • Create metrics for measuring areas of responsibility and develop goals for improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION

  • BS degree in Logistics, supply chain or business administration is preferred. 


EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 10 years in a production environment and or distribution management position, coordinating shipping and transportation activities
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills – verbal and written
  • Ability to coach and motivate others
  • Strong team player
  • Warehouse management system experience is preferred
